Greetings!
Over the course of the next few weeks we are going to focus heavy on plot in fiction reading.
Plot includes many elements: setting, characters, storyline, conflict, resolution - among others. You began your independent reading novel last week. This week, I want you to focus on the main ideas of your story line.
HERE'S YOUR TASK:
In journal letter format (Greeting, Date, Body (COMPLETE PARAGRAPHS), Closing), I want you to give the MAIN IDEAS of the storyline in the book, so far. Be sure to introduce the title of the book you are reading. When referring to characters, please use names. And, because many of us may not have read the book, please be as descriptive as possible (WHILE STICKING TO MAIN IDEA). Everyone must have a posting by the end of the day on Friday, March 9. In my book the scrcrets of the jedi. Dooko found his friend has stolen the the sith holacron. Now the jedi are searching for the person who stole the sith holacron. Also dooko is still on the republic not the sith yet. Im thinking the jedi are going to find out that dookos friend stole the sith holacron.

So far in my book there is a twelve year old girl named Liddie who was left with her fathers friend named Tio Paulo and his wife in Brazil and her horse named Cavalo. Her mother has passed away when she was only seven and that same year her father and older brothef moved to New York and became horse traners. Liddie knows little to no english and her brother and father treat her as if se were seven. Liddie knowes how to ride a horse but her brother and father do not know that. This book is a very nice and plesent book i can not wate to finish this book.

I'm reading the book Pretty Little Liars. In this book Aria, Spencer, Alison, Emily, and Hanna are best friend. Well at least until Alison went missing. It was the last day of seventh grade, all of the girls were having a sleepover. Spencer and Alsion were in a fight and told Alison to leave. The next thing they knew Alison was missing!

When I was reading Harry Potter and the goblet of fire,Harry had to save his friends who are stuck underwater. But there are some merman guarding them. So Harry atempted to save hid friends,but he failed. So he tried to scare the merman away, but all the merman did is laugh. While the merman were distracted, Harry grabbed one of his friends and brought him to the air. And that is what I read.

Dear Mr.Sherman, I am reading the book Dear Dumb Diary, It's about a girl named Jamie and tells what happening in her daliy school life.And social life. I am at the part were she is the best at taking magizen quizes. But then Angaline comes over and says shes the best at them too. But on the other hand theres Isabella, Jamie said she is so competitive that she woundn't close her mouth to look at her toung until Jamie said it was the grossest, it was. ~Abby~

I am reading Well Witched. It is about these kids who steal coins from a well in attempt to buy a bus ticket home. Things after that go horribly wrong. Ryan, one of the main characters, grew eyes on his hands! Josh, another main character, can grant any wish know matter how bad. And Chelle, the third main character, can say even the worst thoughts of strangers. In order to get rid of their curses, they have to grant the wish that went with each coin by the beginning of terms in 2 weeks! The first guy wants a Harley, and he gets one all right- because the dealer was sorry one went haywire and hit him! The next was a girl in love with a psychic guy. After a power outage concocted by Josh, she gets her wish. I am on the third wish. A man wanted to get a part in a play but they turned him down so now he's a mime in a magic act at a fair. As part of her curse, Chelle has to say his thoughts and she thinks they are horrible with a capitol H! Luckily though, Ryan's dad is a director and can grant the man's wish- if he agrees. Ryan's dad dislikes mimes and magic and wouldn't even go to the fair if Ryan hadn't begged. I am at the part before the show starts. Will the wish get granted? I am anxious to read on!

I have picked Heat up again and Iam at chapter 4 so far I like it!
My favorite part is chapter 1 someone named Michel Ayro threw a ball and hit someone in the back of the head, from like 50 feet away! it blew me out of my chair it was cool.This is the book Iam it is a good book.

So far in my book i'm reading Makenzee Blue, she's going into middle school 6th grade, and her best friend moved to Parris. And that's all I got so far in my book. She meets some friends, and then she loses her diary, so they are all on a quest, to find that book. So that's all I read so far.

I am reading twilight: Breaking Dawn. The main idea of the book so far is that Irina ( a vampire) found jacob with a baby, and she contacted the Volturi which is a evil/good vampire group. They help keep the world from danger which is vampires. They are coming to get the Cullens ( Edwards family). Alice which is the sister can see into the future and saw what might happen to her family. She is trying to run away so she can keep her family out of danger. Carlise is the head of the Cullens group. He is trying to gather up as many vampires as he can to help witness their family from bing killed. Some of them have chosen to fight with the Cullens. Bella is a newborn in training. Her power is a shield, she can protect people around her with a force. The wherewolves are also protecting the Cullens. The Volturi soon came and were outnumbered by the Cullens and their friends. Irina was with them and she was wrong about what she saw so the Volturi killed her. THat is where I am in the book now. I only have less than a 1/4 left. Can't wait to read on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Mr. Sherman,
Over the past 2 weeks I have been reading the book Peak. The book is about a boy named Peter who's dream is to climb Mount Everest. At the begining of the book Peter mistook a skiscraper for a moutain so now Peter is stuck who knows how high up he is. I think the main idea is that Peter is determined to climb Mount Everest.
I think this book is very good so far.

I just started another book. It is called 13 Gifts. So far the main character, a girl named Tara, tried to steal a goat, pepper sprayed her principle, and got exiled to her Aunt's house in Willow Falls. There she meets her wierd genius cousin Emily (great name!) She doesn't like it there, but tries to make the best of it!

i am reading Uglies. The main idea so far is when Tally Youngblood(the main character)is forced to run away to find her friend Shay. Shay ran away because she didn't want to turn pretty. Tally had to chose to either never turn pretty or reveall where Shay is. another main idea is when Tally finds the Smoke. She stays there and realizes that if she is to tell where Shay is, she will hurt everyone in the Smoke. Now she has no idea what to do: never turn pretty or turn Shay in.

I am reading how to survive middle school. In the book David just finished middle school and he said what you do at the beginning of the summer that sets the tone for the rest of the summer. He makes talk shows called Talktime and posts them to youtube. So David always does the videos with hes best friend Elliot but Elliot was late so he started without him. Later after he finished his videos Elliot came over and they watched the Dailyshow that Elliot recorded on his tv. David started talking about how he thinks that a student named Cara likes him because she signed his year book and put one heart. So he thought Cara might be at the mall hanging out so Elliot asked his dad if he could drive them to the mall that they have been to a total of twenty-four times. I hope for the book to get better.

I'm reading The Jungle Pyramid. The main idea is when Frank and Joe Hardy go to Mexico to find gold that has been stolen by somebody, but they don't know who. Frank and Joe bring alot of friends by the names of Chet,Biff,and Tony. Right now the Hardys have been caught trying to listen to the thiefs. Frank and Joe are close to solving the mystery but it is not yet solved.

I am reading the book "The Thief Lord " and I'm in the part of the book were Vicor is on a hunt to find to boys named Prosper and Bo. The boys ran away to Vince after there mothers death. I'm really liking the book so far and I think I'm going to LOVE the ending and I will keep you posted on how the book is doing

they made it to the camp in one peace and they have to place it on the tree and it will be saved the tree is a magical tree. when they placed thwe fleece thre tree came back to live now they are gaurding the tree and the fleece for monsters 24/7

I am reading the book Artemis Fowl. Artemis is a twelve year old criminal genius. Holly Short is a fairy that works for a association that gets rid of bad creatures. Artemis Fowl kidnaps Holly as part of his plan, but does not realize that Holly is a dangerous fairy. I think that Artemis is so confident in himself that he can do anything, that he thinks handle with anything too. So far I think that this is a great book and I can not wait for the next event.

This week I have been reading Comeback Kids by: Mike Lupica. The main parts are that Billy, a 10 year old boy loves basketball and plays on his dad's team. The thing is his parents got divorced and always are working. So, he lives with his mom and a nanny. His team is undeafeated and are in line for the playoffs. I really like this book and can't wait to finish.

i am reading a fantastic book.Its about a mom who can seance when a storm is coming. Then a little boy does not know when the tornado was right behind him and swooped him right in.He came back with a knee cap missing. He went to the doctor and he said he will not beable to walk agein.I would predict that maybe he will beable to walk agein but not that soon.
i would sugest the book to others:)

i'm reading the book virtosity its about a very famous violinist named Carman. I am a little confused about her family. so far but as far as i know she lives with a lady named diana and diana's second husband the book does not say where she lives. But there is this guy named jeramy and she doesn't hate him but doesn't like him. he is carmens's compotion. they are both in the finals to see who the best violinist is. thats as far as i am in the book.

I'm reading THE SON OF NEPTUNE. Right now Hazel ( a demi-god ) is having inner conflict because she thinks she's a terrible person because she helped Gaea's son, Alcyoneus, rise faster ( Gaea is the Greek god of the earth and she and her army of monsters want to overthrow the gods, she's evil and the gods are good )but her friends, Percy and Frank, think she's the best person ever. Right now she's kind of believing them but she still has doubts.

Dear Mr. Sherman March/12/2012 In my book that I just started to read The Big Field by Mike Lupica this boy named Hutch is a shortstop until another kid comes in and moves Hutch on over to second base. In the part that have read so far their team is in a jam bases loaded with to outs and their best hitter is up. Hutch is begging to have the ball hit to him but the pitcher puts it on the outside part of the plate and the batter hits it right in the gap beetween shortstop and third base but Hutch is at second. So Dale the boy that stole Hutch's spot guns it towards the ball and gets it turning around and winging it towards second with Hutch standing on base luckly the slowest kid their catcher is the enemie. Then bam the are moving on to regionals and fighting for the state tittle. It is a good story so far your student

I'm reading the 5th book of the Five Ancestors series, Eagle. It gets really intence at some moments and some moments get really sad. To understand this book you have to read Tiger, Monkey, Snake, and Crane.

I am currently reading the tintin series. it is about a reporter named tintin who goes on all these adventures. the books are written in comic style and were made around the 1950s. there are 8 volumes and there is 3 stories in each volume. i am in volume 7 currently. in the stories tintin has many friends that he encounters like captain haddock, chang, 2 detectives named thomson and thomson, his little white dog snowy, and a whole lot more. if i had to rank the tintin books on a rate from one to ten i would give it an 11 . so if your looking for an exciding book whith a ton of shooting, kiddnapping, catching drug smugglers, and a whole lot of action i think you should read it

I've finished reading jungle pyrimid. Frank and Joe got loose from the thiefs and tried to get away but the thiefs captured the Hardys. Mr.Hardy ran into the barn and saw the thiefs and got Frank and Joe loose again. Frank,Joe and Mr. Hardy then called the police who arrested them. The "head" thief was Mr. Hardys assistant detective and the other thiefs were Jake and the other one didn't say his name. I really liked the book The Jungle pyrimid.

Iam reading the book Mached, it is about a girl named Cassia and she lives in a world where people called the machers match you up with random boys, that you could know or not know them. You have to go to a match banqit, and there is a huge black wall and they call your name and which ever boy is on the screen, you have to marry then. So cassia gets called, she stands up and a boy named Xander. Cassia is happy because she knows xander. But one problem the next day the coples are listed and cassia is not mached with xander.

In my book Faith, Hope and IvyJune, IvyJune is in an exchange student program that takes place in Kentucky. She will be going to Catherine Combs house in Lexigton for two weeks. Then Catherine will go to IvyJune's house in Thunder Creek for two weeks. I can't wait to see if anything goes wrong!

I am reading Charlie Joe Jackson's Guide to NOT reading by Tommy Greenwald. It is about a kid named Charlie Joe Jackson who has not liked reading since as far back as he can remember. I like the book so far because he goes from not liking to read to starting to like to read. He's funny and the book is pretty easy to read. I think that the book will end with Charlie Joe Jackson being a good reader that likes to read forever.
